01 — Background
KnowAtlanta is a long-running relocation guide and magazine serving individuals and families moving to the Atlanta area. After 25 years without a visual update — and amid internal leadership changes — the publication was facing declining ad revenue and a need to better connect with a modern audience.
The opportunity was not just aesthetic refresh, but repositioning: evolve the publication into a contemporary lifestyle-forward resource while honoring its legacy and long-standing advertiser relationships.

02 — The Project
We led a full rebrand and editorial redesign, introducing a new logo suite, refined color palette, updated typography system, and a reimagined visual direction. Photography shifted from skyline-heavy imagery to candid, lifestyle-driven moments that felt personal and rooted in experience.
Within the magazine, we developed a new grid system, increased white space, and established a clear section-labeling structure to improve pacing and readability. The redesign extended beyond a single issue — creating a scalable master template that now supports each ongoing publication cycle.
03 — Approach & Outcome
The central challenge was navigating change within a legacy brand. After decades of visual consistency, stakeholders were understandably cautious. The solution was thoughtful evolution rather than disruption — modernizing structure and tone while preserving familiarity and trust.
The refreshed brand has helped attract increased advertiser interest, including more prominent placements such as The BeltLine, and strengthened the publication’s positioning in a competitive relocation market. The redesign was also submitted for recognition in a redesign award category, reflecting the scale and success of the transformation.
