01 — Background
KnowAtlanta is Atlanta's premier relocation guide — a publication with deep roots in the city and a loyal readership built over decades. When we came on board, the design had fallen significantly behind both the publication's ambitions and the city it covers. The visual language felt dated, the layouts were rigid, and the overall presentation undersold the quality of the editorial content.
The team knew change was needed. They were just nervous about how far to go.

02 — The Project
We led a full editorial redesign — cover system, interior layouts, typography, infographic design, photography direction, and digital assets — building a visual language that could honor KnowAtlanta's history while finally feeling like a reflection of the city it covers. Atlanta is a city that holds its past and its future at the same time, and we wanted the magazine to do the same.
The process required as much creative direction as it did client management. The team was hesitant, and rightfully so — a publication redesign affects advertisers, readers, and institutional identity all at once. We made the case clearly, pushed when it was needed, and brought them along at every step.
03 — Approach & Outcome
The before/after tells the clearest version of this story. What was once a publication that blended into the background now has a distinct visual presence — confident covers, considered typography, and layouts that give the editorial content room to breathe.
The redesign is currently a finalist for a national publication design award.
